ABOUT:
"Street Safe Kids" and Safety Awareness Programs are the founding
missions of the 1996 'Center for Community Peacemakers' of Oakland, California.
Originally, our services were directed towards domestic violence issues,
but over time, we included peace education programs for kids, teens and
neighborhoods. In 2001, we blended all of our materials and experiences
into a national safety awareness campaign to strengthen families, keep
kids safe and provide teens with leadership and citizenship service projects.
MISSION:
Street Safe Kids and its national "Awareness" Campaign promotes
teen and community service to help families and neighbors organize and
build safety networks for children with safety awareness, recognizing
differences in people and finding ways to reduce crime and violence for
the good of all.
FOCUS:
Our community-based and grassroots focus is to bring people together to
keep all children safe. Because we believe that stopping violence starts
at home and with family, our "Awareness" Campaign also offers
the tools, resources and training to create safety networks of support
to protect children and empower youth.
