Who is Daphna Ziman
Daphna Ziman has been an advocate for children everywhere. She is aware of the crisis that faces millions of children around the world without parents. Her mission is to educate the public on the need to become involved as mentors, foster parents and adoptive parents. She lobbies for social services for young people all over the world. In 1996 Daphna Ziman established Children Uniting Nations ("CUN") an organization based in Los Angeles, California that is devoted to the rights of children everywhere.
Daphna Edwards Ziman, founder and Chairperson of Children Uniting Nations was the winner of the 1999 Global Peace & Tolerance Award: Lifetime Achievement Award for Children Advocacy, presented by Kathleen Kennedy-Townsend.

What's the Children Uniting Nations
Founded to protect the children who have no voice, whose fragile lives are being abused and lost by the millions, due to uncertainties utterly out of their control.
Children Uniting Nations is a progressive voice for children to express their concerns about the current status of the world's political realities and rapid globalization. The planet today is undergoing climactic, technological, and demographic changes on a scale never before seen in the history of mankind.

As the trustees of tomorrow's world, children must be given an active role in political discourse and diplomatic action; thus providing them with the tools they need to become global citizens.

For the first time, the Children Uniting Nations will harness the efficient, thoroughly informed, organized structure of the socially responsible corporate world with the long-term, nonthreatening vision that is the United Nations; thereby creating a truly international organization free from the limited vision that defines self-interest agendas.

GS Journalist Robin, 17, interviewed Daphna Ziman and here's what she learned... My name is Robin Akashi and I interviewed GirlSite Vision Awards honoree
Daphna Ziman who is the founder of Children Uniting Nations. I talked with
Daphna about the focus of her organization and what it means to reach out and
help children all over the nation. I learned that Children Uniting Nations is a
non-profit organization which provides mentors to disadvantaged children spanning
the country. These mentors are role models to the children and expose them to
expierences that they would never have otherwise. The aim of CUN is to bring
worldwide attention to the rights of children and create a future with an
"environmental balance along with a heightened sense of human rights and
dignity.".

We also talked about why she began CUN, what it was that inspired her. She
in turn told me a story about a very young boy, who had been bounced around
between foster families, and Daphna decided that she would change lives like the
little boy's. She also was inspired by the feeling she got while helping
others. This satisfied, complete feeling like none other cannot be described,
it can only be understood by helping others yourself.
