GirlSite Journalists went to the "Women Making History" event to benefit Senator Barbara Boxer on April 22, 2003 at the St. Regis Hotel in Century City, CA. The event was hosted by actress Christine Lahti and joined other well-known Senators like Senator Maria Cantwell, Senator Blanche Lincoln, Senator Patty Murray, Senator Mary Landrieu, Senator Barbara Mikulski, Senator Debbie Stabenow and, of course, Senator Barbara Boxer.

GirlSite Journalist Kristen, 17, got the opportunity to listen to speeches from all seven Senators about politics, what drives them and how to keep women in office. Kristen also got the chance to meet Senator Barbara Boxer and say a few words with her before she left the reception.

Kristen learned a lot that night about how important it is to be involved with our government, no matter what your political affliation may be, and is thinking about pursuing a career in politics in the future. We wish her luck, and know she will do well in whatever career she chooses.
