GirlSite Privacy Statement
At GirlSite, it's our goal to adhere to the guidelines of COPPA (Children's Online Privacy Protection Act) in order to protect the privacy of visitors to our site. We hope this guide will help answer your questions about being on our site.

Do I have to give you personal information to see your site?
No. We don't ask for any registration or personal information to check out our site.

Do you ever need my personal information?
If you want to participate in our giveaways and contests, or if you want to become a GS Journalist or submit articles, artwork or pages, we need to have the following information: your name, age, mailing address and e-mail address.

How do you get my personal information?
We get personal information when you provide it to us in different areas of the site, described below.

Questions
GirlSite.org visitors can send questions via mail or via e-mail to editors@girlsite.org to ask for advice. Selected questions and responses are shared with visitors to the site. When sending questions, we ask that tell us your age and first name only.

Profiles
We may offer the opportunity for our visitors to share limited information about themselves with other visitors. We reserve the right to edit profiles and to limit the kinds of information they may share with others.

Submissions
We sometimes solicit and accept submissions from our visitors, such as movie reviews, opinions, articles and pages, some of which we may post at the site. These submissions may sometimes include personal information. We reserve the right to edit the submissions and to remove personal information if we choose to do so.

Message Boards
GirlSite also does make message boards available, where visitors can participate in discussions. As with all chat rooms, visitors may disclose personal information about themselves. We urge all visitors not to post any personal identifying information (such as your last name, address or phone number) without first discussing it with your parents and getting their consent. Quizzes
Girlsite.org visitors can take quizzes on our site. We do not collect any quiz answers provided by participants.

Polls
GirlSite also does polls from time to time. The results of these polls are shown on the Web site. No personally identifiable data is collected from participants through any of these features.

What does GirlSite do with the information?
GirlSite stores its reader information in its secure database and does NOT share this information with anyone, except as may be needed for site operations, or as may be required by law or requested by a law enforcement agency. You and your parent can ask that we show you what personal information we have about you. And if you or your parent sends a request (by mail or e-mail) that we delete this information, it will be removed. GirlSite NEVER sells a visitor's name to any third parties, though we may share some information with a limited group of others.

Who does GirlSite share information with?
GirlSite shares personal information with certain companies for the purpose of mailing GirlSite prizes or newsletters. We may also send our visitor’s promotional materials we think may be of interest. To opt/out of promotional mailings, follow the opt/out procedure below. GirlSite does not control the conduct of these companies, and GirlSite cannot be held responsible or liable for any of their conduct including their privacy, advertising or content policies.

What about GirlSite’s links to other sites?
GirlSite offers links to selected outside providers, and to certain sites operated by others that we feel our visitors would enjoy. Please by aware that you are leaving the GirlSite site when you link to any of those other sites.
